How Yoga combined with Meditation can improve your brain
I’ve been pleased to read how researchers at a university in Bangalore have proof of how yoga does improve your brain function and boost the quality of your daily life.
Tests were carried out on 57 people aged between 18 and 40 looking at the pre and post effects of yoga and cyclic meditation. Improved scores in a letter copying-task and the circle-dotting task following cyclic meditation sessions showed that the speed for repetitive motor activity of the brain was also better after the yoga technique.
Yoga is an ancient practice which over centuries, particularly in the West has become diluted to suit a fast paced Western lifestyle. When I practised yoga from my early 20s, I was constantly searching for exercise to keep slim and fit but also a connection with self, which unfortunately many teachers only had an inkling of because they hadn’t done enough work on themselves.

Perhaps physically mastering the postures they’d achieved milestones, performing postures to immaculate precision. When I talked to many teachers, their minds were all over the place, they weren’t grounded. Some teachers do show elements of having elevated themselves spiritually remaining grounded, but yoga is still taught with harsh competitive edge.
Yoga masters visiting from India have even remarked on how yoga taught in London, because I can only speak for London has something missing.
So the search continues…
